What will happen during my first chiropractic visit?
Your initial chiropractic visit takes about 45 minutes.
There will be brief paperwork then we’ll conduct a full lifestyle evaluation through questions about health history, lifestyle factors and health goals then a physical assessment.
Afterwards, I’ll conduct your first gentle adjustment then invite you back to go over findings, discuss response to the first adjustment then discuss best chiropractic and lifestyle plan to achieve health goals.
What are the benefits of chiropractic adjustments during pregnancy?
With pregnancy come hormonal changes, a shift in body weight and a laxity of connective tissues. New stresses are experienced by the lower back and pelvis. Many women report that their pregnancies were easier and their delivery times shorter when they received prenatal chiropractic care.
Even today’s birthing procedures can put tremendous pressures on a child’s spine. And while the injury from forceps deliveries may be less common today, vacuum extraction and eager hands can do even more damage by pulling, forcing and twisting the baby’s young spine. Infant adjustments have been shown to minimize the incidence of colic, ear infections, unexplained crying, poor sleep and difficulty breast feeding, in addition to the many other benefits.
When shall I start to bring my children in to get adjusted?
Subluxations can occur at anytime due to physical, chemical and emotional stress. Correcting subluxations at an early age allows the child’s innate intelligence to adapt to life properly, especially during rapid periods of development.
Is it safe for my infant to receive chiropractic care?
Without the language to explain, many newborns experience colic, unexplained crying, lack of appetite, frequent ear infections or other signs of poor health.
Regular chiropractic checkups are helpful to monitor spinal development as infants sit upright, support their heads, learn to crawl and take their first brave steps. Many experts believe that uncorrected spinal problems during this early stage of development cause the chronic, hard-to-correct subluxations seen in adults.
What are the reasons I should bring my kids in for chiropractic treatment?
Kids ages 0 – 5 is the most critical to have a child’s spine checked because their spine has not ossified (turned transformed from soft tissue to hardened bone).
Kids ages 5 and up often experience traumas through playground and bike falls, sports, heavy backpacks, computer & video games, poor diet and stress.
Adjusting techniques are modified for each person’s size and unique spinal problem, and a child’s spine rarely has the long-standing muscle tightness seen in adults. This makes a child’s chiropractic adjustments gentle, comfortable and effective.
